CELIMAX NONI AMPULE MASK REVIEW

KATHERINE SPOWART on JULY 9, 2020

Celimax has been an up and coming K-beauty brand over the past year and their products have become quite the staple in my routines. From their cleansing oil to their peeling pads, they’re also now a regular brand to see within the Korean skincare Instagram community. One of their most popular products, and a firm favorite of mine, is their Noni Ampoule, based on the soothing and antioxidative properties of the noni fruit extract. The ampoule is a luscious green, calming, moisturizing product that my skin loves. So when I saw they had recently released a Noni Ampule Mask? Yes ma’am, gimme! I’m so excited to review this mask.

PRODUCT DETAILS

The mask is described by Celimax as:

“A premium nourishing mask that vitalizes the skin with the rich nutrition and elasticity of Noni Extract. The concentrated Noni ampoule provides ample nutrition to the skin, vitalizing the tired and rough skin with elasticity. The elastic Skin Fit Sheet adheres perfectly to the skin and lifts the sagging skin, improving the texture.”

A number of claims! Based on the nourishing properties of the ampoule that I’ve tested (and almost finished the bottle), I was expecting an extremely nourishing mask with moisturizing effects for my dry skin.

Ingredients (as per Celimax):

Morinda Citrifolia Fruit Extract (52%), Purified Water, Glycerin, 1,2-Hexanediol, Butylene Glycol, Allantoin, Sodium Hyaluronate, Dextrin, Squalane, Caramel, Caprylic/Capric Triglycerides, Ceramide NP, Hydrogenated Lecithin, Rosemary Leaf Oil, Adenosine, Trehalose, Panthenol, Melia Azadirachta Leaf Extract, Melia Azadirachta Flower Extract, Carbomer, Arginine, Polyglyceryl-10 Laurate, Ethylhexylglycerin, Disodium EDTA.

Noni fruit extract is known for its antioxidative properties, making it an anti-aging option to reduce damage and signs of ageing. Interestingly, the ingredients list does not exactly match the ingredients of the Noni Ampoule, despite the claim that this mask contains an entire bottle of the said ampoule. The main ingredients are still present in both products and the Noni fruit extract is the first, dominant ingredient in each list.

MASK AMPOULE

The ampoule within the mask packet is very much a thick, gel ampoule. It’s virtually identical to the consistency of the bottled ampoule, as is the gorgeous herbal scent. It’s not the typical, liquid, runny essence, common within many sheet masks. Because it’s less of a liquid, it means it’s not at all messy, with zero dripping- a positive in my eyes! The downside is that the essence is not evenly distributed throughout the mask packet. I have to collect a lot of the essence in my hands and pat it into my face before applying the mask. If I don’t do this, areas of the material would have had much more ampoule-concentrated areas and I wanted an even dispersal.

MASK MATERIAL

The material is luxurious to the touch as well as functional. The only information I can find from Celimax is that the mask is made from Spandex, which I can’t say I’ve heard of before in a mask material. It adheres well to the contours of the face, which is vital for maximum results from any mask. It feels extremely soft on the skin and makes the experience of using the mask comfortable and easy. The brand does claim that this skin-fit sheet “physically tightens up the loose skin to enhance elasticity”, but realistically I think this is a far-fetched idea and I do not believe the material tightened my skin…

The fit of the mask is totally fine on my distinctly average-sized face. Because the material is thin and adhesive, it’s easy to fold and adjust without any issues.

RESULTS

The mask lasts well for around 30 minutes and leaves my skin feeling incredibly nourished and lightly moisturized. I’d say it’s medium-heavyweight on the skin and I have not needed an extremely rich moisturizing cream to follow, particularly because of this summer heat. The ampoule absorbs well but does leave a very slight tackiness. I don’t personally mind the tackiness, and the plumped, moisturized effect on my skin is exactly what I love from an intense masking session.

FINAL THOUGHTS

I have to say- I love these masks and they completely surpassed my expectations. The material feels great on the skin, it adheres well and fits my face nicely. The ampoule is rich, moisturizing, plumping, and leaves my skin feeling so nourished and glowing. Because of the tackiness, it’s more of an evening option and not a product I’d use before makeup application. When I do the mask before bed, I’ve noticed that the glow and effects last through to the following morning, which I can definitely appreciate! A premium product with no premium price, perfect!
